Auli – A perfect place for adventure and photography

Auli, India’s premier ski resort destination, is a small but picture-perfect town. Auli’s skiing slopes, which were originally built as a paramilitary base, are popular with both tourists and professionals. Auli hosts a number of snow adventure events during the winter. You can also learn to ski here.

Auli, located around 2,800 meters above sea level and surrounded by acres of oak and coniferous forests, provides panoramic views of some of India’s highest peaks, including the country’s second-highest peak, Nanda Devi (7,816m). It also serves as a gateway to the Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Parks, as well as the Hemkund Sahib gurdwara, and popular trekking destinations such as Gorson Bugyal, Pangerchulla Summit, and Tapovan.

Aside from Auli, Uttarakhand has several other ski resorts, including Dayara Bugyal, Munsiyari, and Mundali.

Auli serves as a jumping-off point for photographers to capture mountain ranges such as Nanda Devi, Kamat Kamet, and Mana Parvat. Focus your camera on the orange sun setting between snow-capped mountains, as well as the myriad colors splattered across the sky like an artist’s palette. At every turn, Auli provides picture-perfect opportunities. Feast your eyes on nature’s unending splendor and let the tranquillity of the landscape wash.
